Study at Vietnam's leading WHO Traditional Medicine Hospital & Acupuncture Hospital
PLUS discover exciting teachings in the Ancient Healing Art of TVM by Vietnam's great Masters and Professors. (60-70% program)

During your 3-week program with us, you will experience many different modes of treatment, schools of thought, and gain invaluable practice in a wide range of pathologies, at different locations. During the allocated times at the hospital, you will work with a medical team who are doctors of both Western and Eastern medicine, this is compulsory to practice in Vietnam. Whilst Western pharmaceuticals are used within the hospitals, the emphasis is placed on treatments using Traditional Medicine, reducing the use of pharmaceutical prescriptions, where possible, and as early as possible. Away from the hospitals you will also work with some incredible practitioners of Traditional medicine and energy healers, including some great masters who practice only with natural and Traditional methods.

Within the hospital(s) having qualified as Western physician’s, each professor/doctor has continued their education further into the field of Traditional Medicine, training between Vietnam and China in their chosen fields of speciality. Each with their own unique way of treating, they use a variety of treatment methods within traditional medicine - we have carefully selected specific doctors in each of the departments whom through first-hand experience, we recognise as the very best to communicate and exchange ideas and personal experience in their chosen fields with AcuVietnam students;- ensuring the best experience awaits.

You will be at the hospital PLUS at various locations throughout Hanoi during your 3-week stay in Vietnam,
We have highlighted below just a few of the areas included in the program, to give you a taste of what to expect at the hospital, in addition to below you will be introduced to some fascinating Traditional Vietnamese healing methods and techniques, totally unique to our program at AcuVietnam, as follows:-

Stroke and rehabilitation
A large and busy ward within the main hospital, the experience gained in this area is insurmountable and we feel invaluable for a condition that is affecting societies in an alarmingly increasing number, both in the East and West today.

You will be assisting with intensive treatments in many post-stroke cases during the program, using needles up to 20cms in length obliquely down through the body with electro stimulation. There is also a strong focus on threading along the spine ½-1 cun out along the extra points of the Hua Tuo Jia Ji’s.

Patients are treated daily with acupuncture, sometimes twice a day and they are also administered herbs, along with western pharmaceuticals at the initial outset. You will witness some remarkable results in very short periods of time, and gain confidence in new needling techniques.

Dermatology
A wide range of conditions present in this area especially within the hospital, but other internal diseases are often treated here as the head of department Prof Son has studied many of these at great length.

On the dermatology ward you see both in and out patients, who are treated with both herbs and acupuncture.

Herbal steaming is also administered in damp cases especially that of Acne, where water is mixed with herbs and/or essential oils and applied for approx 30-mins, after which a herbal face pack is used.

Another exciting and popular treatment used for several dermatological conditions, that is also proving extremely successful in Autoimmune diseases, is Auto-Blood-Transfusion: a patient’s blood is tested for composition compatibility – if criteria is met, a vial of blood is taken, depending on the presenting pathology it is then injected back into the body at specific points in particular ST36, SP10 and SP6 at maximum 1ml per acu point - a remarkable treatment with great results.

Some of the pathologies encountered on this ward to date include: Psoriasis, Eczema, Herpes zoster/ Shingles, Acne, Nerve Granuloma, Phemigus, Vitiligo, Alopecia, Ùrticaria, Herpes simplex and many more...

Musculoskeletal Diseases

A huge array presents on a daily basis throughout all clinics and hospitals in Hanoi, extremely busy departments especially outpatient where patients are treated with acupuncture and electro, before moving to another ward for additional treatments including fire cupping, Tuina, traction therapy, moxa, etc...

Each doctor has a unique way of examining and treating, with several of the professors specialising in spinal disorders, they have also trained in many additional modalities for skeletal degeneration.

Peadiatrics
An inspiring and heart-warming department a the hospitals,  this is often a difficult department for some of our students as it can be quite emotional, those who chose to spend the scheduled time on this ward find it deeply rewarding and humbling, although presented with some incredibly difficult cases that can be very hard to deal with.

A common treatment now used on this ward is Implant Acupuncture Therapy, where a dissolvable protein suture is used, especially along bladder points on the back for 24/7 stimulation to dredge the channels and collateral's. This is especially effective for children from rural areas, as they only need to have this treatment every 15-days or so.

Some of the conditions we have worked with include: Cerebral palsy, Cerebral Hypoxia, Traumatic brain injuries, Encephalitis, Bronchial asthma, Acute & Chronic bronchitis, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Pneumonia, Meningitis, Headaches/migraines, chronic vomiting.

Five Senses
An energetically soothing department, you will be taught by a wonderful Doctor who simply oozes healing energy. An ophthalmologist who achieves wonderful results through Traditional medicine, yoga and meditation she is also involved in many clinical studies achieving some excellent results in many common eye conditions seen in the west.

She will also introduce specific yoga forms, used to treat many pathologies within the five senses department.

Oncology
A new department at the hospital, that is already unfortunately in great demand. Many patients here are treated for the symptomatic relief from Chemo/radiation therapy, but please note these are not carried out at the hospital. Patients either stay within the hospital for post treatment-care or they are treated as out-patients whilst undergoing these treatments. Some of the top professors in the field are currently involved in research development and further study throughout Vietnam and China, with plans to develop the hospital’s Oncology department to a high level in its important role in the fight against cancer in the 21st century.

Whilst it can be an energetically heavy department to work in, it is wonderful to see such huge symptomatic relief amongst the patients.

Vitality preservation: Tai Chi, Qi Gong
& dynamic Massage.
You will have an introduction with one of Vietnam's Great Masters, to this important ancient healing art that integrates physical exercise, breathing techniques, focused intention and Mindfulness, through both theory and practice of postures to assist and manage ones own health, helping heal the body, calm the mind and increase vitality.

You will also discover Vietnamese Massage and Tuina on the wards, with many treatments at the hospital also incorporating intense electro, fire cupping, acupressure, manipulation and traction therapy, and moxa.

These are just some of the departments and therapies to give you a taste of what you will experience on an AcuVietnam program!
