Bruce Lee, the I-Ching & what you will never outrun in your Lifetime!

28/10/2019

The Significance of Being like Water by Tara O’Connell

The infamous Bruce Lee held one core belief to his art, it was the ‘MUST’ for constant adaptation within his fighting, stemming from the Ancient Chinese Book of Wisdom; the I Ching or The Book of Changes.
Believed by many to be the oldest and wisest book on Earth today dating back to some 3000BC; the I-Ching has a core principle that everything in our world, our universe is in a continual flux... forever changing.

In-turn, signifying the importance of the must for each of us in learning to change, to accept and manage it, only then do we lay the silk pathway for inner harmony and balance in our life... to experience true freedom of the Monkey Mind.
I Ching Balance Method Bruce Lee

Traditional Medicine, as with that of the Martial Arts
All stem from a firm grounding in Metaphysics;
a constant interplay between the physical and the spiritual aspects of all that is, and all that will be.

It is up to YOU and each of us individually to harmonise the balance between these 2 players.
To evolve to our true selves,
to live our true path in this lifetime.

Were you a die-hard Bruce Lee fan?

If so you may recall, the art of Kung Fu in the mid 20th century was focused primarily on the techniques incorporated into fighting – esp via the legendary Lee movies!

In fact, it was only when Lee studied the Wang Chun method in Hong Kong under the legendary Ip Man, that the true philosophical aspect was discovered and bought to the West. The students within the field, were strongly encouraged to look toward Buddhist and Taoist principles, with the central focus of being fluid and free of any force.
Lee's Core Understandings:
Struggling with his trainings and understandings; Bruce was told by his master to 'go home and reflect'.

To follow the natural bend of things, don’t interfere.
Do not assert yourself, control any problem by Swinging with it.

Lee who was also struggling with his meditation practice at the time, seeing nothing coming from it...
One day Lee took to the Water in a Junk boat.

it was here that Lee found his true insight.

With a flash of anger from such long, deep frustrations, Bruce hit out at the water….

Thumping it hard with such ferocity, but suddenly it struck him, how UTTERLY FUTILE his actions were?

... he did not, nor could NOT hurt the water!

This seemingly WEAK substance, that he could not even grasp in his hand, and yet this soft fluid could penetrate even the hardest substance – wasn’t this the true core principle of Kung Fu?
I Ching Traditional Medicine & Martial Arts
to simply follow the nature of water...

Power of living like water Acupuncture Balance Method

... but for You and I?

Is our path not about the continuous flow and adaptation to one’s environment, the experiences, the successes and failures?

– yet through it all, the importance to accept, and simply to keep going...  the key is the ‘must’ to always learn how to accept and manage change whilst flowing harmoniously with everything?

 - therein lies the challenge.
Avoid stagnating flow like water Eastern Philosophy

If we look at the 2 fundamental laws
... that exist underlying all physical change in Our Universe:

1: Universal Law of Polar reversal.
That in all things we see the seeds of their opposites, each of us carrying in our genetic code not just the seed of new life, but also its decomposition.

 – so too does every single human affair, carry within it the seed for subtle change.

2: Universal Law of Periodicity.
The law of cycles & rhythms. Just like growth cycle in plants, animals, seasons, days…  so too does the development of our individual life and character.

ASK yourself:  do you believe you are the same person you were 10 years ago? 20 years ago…  Perhaps even 1 Year ago?

THE TAO: The Way

This path of changing life, changing Cosmos is the Tao (the way), or the gateway through which all things move, like in Christianity referred to as a state of ‘grace’.

The significance of this Ancient text, 'the I-Ching', alongside these ancient Ba Gua maps applied into our Medical practice is astonishing. We as Traditional Medicine Practitioners: I Ching Balance Method Acupuncturist’s and Martial Artist's who learn, discover and practice these principles can identify and unlock stagnations and past emotional trauma buried deep within so many of us today…

FREEING you from the clutches of Old Unwanted Patterning…

- to live your life FREE of those patterns that keep you aboard the Merry-go-round, inviting you to step off into the magical World of Change and Creation - Of your Creation.

This is the core focus of each of our Acupuncture course's in Vietnam and Internationally.

By discovering what at first seems deeply complex, and a mountainous learning challenge especially for the Western linear mind;

WE PROMISE YOU, once presented in a strategic analogical methodology, with an inspirational digital approach, its simplicity and effectiveness in even the most complex of diseases and mind-suffering will take your breath away, over and over again.

Our Medical Practitioners who train with us in the BaGua and I Ching Balance Method Acupuncture are able to decode the ancient wisdom of the Hexagrams or binary system, in-turn identifying exactly what is the underlying cause of trauma and disease, in-turn setting you upon the path to releasing it...

The I-Ching is a source of great wisdom and insight throughout the world, explored by every religion including Christianity; this cooperative effort spanning many centuries has incredible accuracy at isolating the present moment and predicting the future.
Picture
It is like Unwrapping, Unfolding & Discovering yourself.

whilst also discovering the intricacies of this world are something you intimately understood all along, somewhere deep within,
ALWAYS.

I-CHING UNCOVERS
Vietnam War gravesites of loved ones...

Balance Method Acupuncture Vietnam
Here in Vietnam today, the I-Ching is being used by IC Masters for those visitors who are seeking the final resting place, or remains of their loved ones who died fighting in the American War, otherwise known in the West as the 'Vietnamese War'.

The I-Ching is leading the families to the grave sites with great accuracy, as astounding as this may seem, it is giving closure to many,  yet we cannot explain this from our linear viewpoints.

Perhaps when I have met with these I-Ching Masters (a meeting of which is being organised as we speak); I will have more light to shed upon this, and an explanation that can be translated into words – though I use the word ‘perhaps’ lightly as the deeper one goes, it seems words too, have their limitations.

IF YOU ARE READING THIS?
Then you are using the I-Ching right now, & likely every single day!

Acupuncture study shows the path to change

I have encountered many on my path who dismiss this incredible Book of Changes, seen simply as nothing but an ancient book of superstitious or fortune telling nonsense. Yet often cowering in disbelief when learning this very book which originated as a Book with no Words, is the father of the world we know today, tomorrow and beyond.

In fact - if you are reading this, you too are using this great wisdom right at this moment, for the very Binary system at the core of these digital creations, is said to have stemmed from this very book!

The results Medically speak for themselves, and I feel we have only made a mere dent into understanding this ancient timeless wisdom.

9 Benefits to Discovering the value of Cupping Therapy in your life...

6/8/2018

By: Tara O'Connell

Helping banish Pain, boost Immunity, Anti-aging, extinguish cellulite, ease digestive issues, release stress, and more...

You may have spotted all the pictures of celebs and athletes proudly sporting the circular swelling marks left from their cupping therapy? Perhaps you wonder how anything that leaves such large apparent ‘bruising’ could be in ANY WAY good for the body, or even an enjoyable experience...  looking more like an endurance?

Trust us; they are not painful at all, either during or after!

In fact Cupping can be deeply relaxing, whilst recharging your internal energy balance and at the same time helping to resolve your ailments, often with remarkable speed.

Cupping therapy itself offers incredible results for so many ailments!

One of the oldest practices in the world (1500bc), cupping has been with us since ancient times – with its recent trend over the past few years,  there is good reason for this CUPPING is POWERFUL!

Whilst most other body therapies focus on a compression and release technique, by placing cups on the skin we do the opposite! By gently creating a vacuum-suction effect, cupping substantially increases blood and lymph flow whilst also expelling all the unwanted stagnations and toxins we each ingest, inhale, and don’t forget many thoughts are toxins too,  in our daily lives.

We work with bamboo, plastic, or glass cups... sometimes with magnets, oils, and/or acupuncture needles.

Lying down on a therapy table, we use a heating technique with flames of fire(unless using suction cups) before applying it to the selected area of skin, a skill once mastered it can be used to create a very powerful session! We use several techniques including stationary, sliding or flash-fire cupping!

Top 9 Reasons why you should introduce Cupping into your life:

1. PAIN RELIEF in a natural but powerful way!

Picture
ALMOST every type of pain can be reduced, often fully extinguished – inc cancer pain, with Cupping!
By enhancing delivery of O2 and all nutrients to all body tissues, our blood flow is also optimised! If pain is from trauma or an injury, the heat and pressure brings energy and fluids to the affected area and the healing process is oten super speedy!

2. STRESS RELIEF and relaxation

Picture
Now who couldn’t do with a bit of this? Stress has been deemed at the backbone of more than 75% of ALL illness today, yes imagine that! Too often we buy around us, socialise outwardly instead of really nourishing ourselves within and treating our body like the temple that it is – after all it’s your best friend. It is the only thing in the world that is with you through every knock, every life-learning lesson, every fall, heart-break, and of course to celebrate your successes too.

Treasure it, because if you don’t – no-one else will!

Cupping is incredibly relaxing as it gets to the deepest tissues in your body.

3. GUT PROBLEMS or digestive disorders?

Cupping Acupuncture for Digestive problems and IBS
What’s one of the biggest causes of problems in this area?

Yes diet, but perhaps even more of a contributor is STRESS? Anyone who suffers with an ulcer, IBS, constipation often recognise the time of onset and flare-ups are almost always stress related. Cupping also supports the digestive system and improves your overall health, inc stomach issues, gastrointestinal issues acute or chronic, water retention and more...

How or why? To understand this we need to delve further into Traditional Oriental Medicine channel theory, which we will explore in a later blog, however we also teach this within our programs here at AcuVietnam, Hanoi.

For more info please email [email protected].

4. RESPIRATORY RELIEF: Are you prone to colds, coughs, allergies, etc ?

Learn Cupping in Asia
Cupping stimulates our Lungs and other organs to expel any phlegm, and reduce cold symptoms.

A great immune booster, cupping pushes blood and lymphatic fluids throughout the entire body –
a full body immune workout!

5. FACIAL / BODY REJUVENATION: providing anti-aging effects...

Rejuvenation anti-aging with Cupping

What's the No.1 effect of cupping? Increasing blood flow and Lymphatic flow.

As we age, we start develop those fine lines, wrinkles (that each tell a story imo), and your muscle tone starts to lose its firmness, sometimes it seems like overnight!!

With aging, some things start to slow down and blood flow can be one of these – Cupping literally awakens this up and dramatically increases blood flow to these areas of the body, and with that blood comes an increased supply of oxygen and increased nutrients too, these in turn assist with the production of collagen whatever your age!

6. CELLULITE zapper

Fight cellulite with Cupping therapy

Cupping is one of the best treatments for cellulite, after all what is cellulite?

   -   CELLULITE: Noun: persistent subcutaneous fat causing dimpling on the skin.

Using cups on these areas breaks up the fat clusters, at the same time we work on other areas on the body to promote the internal body processes of breaking down lipids at the core, to increase the overall function of these organs. Cupping can achieve remarkable effects for breaking up the cellulite, releasing the toxins and fat build-up for easy release through the lymphatic drainage system.

With many people spending $1000s on cellulite removal, when a simple, more cost effective solution that also feels good - is right here!!

7. Easy DETOXIFICATION of your Body Temple

Picture

Blood circulation can be decreased, when we have toxic build-up in our body. As a  Naturopathic practitioner, I have a strong focus on the importance of detoxification in mind and body, I cannot say enough about the importance of removing stored toxins in our bodies, and getting them out once and for all!! Many health problems and dangerous diseases result from such toxin build up – Cupping is a great way to release these, as well as the dead cells which have no place in our temples of life!

We have an exciting new Detox program launching shortly, info to follow. THERE is NO one size fits all with Detoxification – we are each unique and store toxins in different ways, with different impacts, hence why we do not all remove these in the same way!!

8. Turn down that INFLAMMATION – Put out the Fire !

Picture
Picture
Long term inflammation is detrimental to our health, affecting your heart, brain and other organs, in fact when inflammatory cells hang around too long in your vessels they start building up dangerous plaque, chronic inflammation has been linked to many diseases in society today especially Cancer. Cupping can reduce inflammation significantly speeding up the healing process naturally.

Please note: for more serious conditions we would recommend you speak to your health care practitioner for Acupuncture, herbs, physiotherapy and/or your allopathic doctor for additional treatment methods.

9. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Cupping for Carpal Tunnel Treatment

If you suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome you will know how truly awful this can be to experience in  your daily life. Affecting the nerve in your hands it can create a disabling effect – sadly a very common problem in today’s society. Cupping therapy has produced remarkable results in a short time frame – when other therapies have had little impact.

The list goes on... Cupping also provides remarkable effects in Scientific studies and clinics for many other conditions including:

- acne, eczema, knee osteoarthritis, diabetes mellitus, herpes zoster, chronic shoulder and neck injury, in high blood pressure studies have shown that cupping can reduce systolic blood pressure on par with western medication without the side effects , urticaria, allergic rhinitis, chronic fatigue (study), fibromyalgia, MS, asthma, facial paralysis,  RA,  and more...

Want to know more?  To experience the benefits of Cupping, how to do it?

We recommend you find an Acupuncturist / Traditional Medicine practitioner near you and book in for some powerful Cupping therapy!

However, if you would like to learn how to use this incredible healing therapy, to discover techniques whilst practicing and developing your skill in this ancient healing art of Cupping to use in your life on yourself and your loved ones:

We offer workshops and trainings in Hanoi, Vietnam as part of our Introduction to Traditional Eastern Medicine program. Commencing on 15th August 2018.

We welcome all from any background, with a passion for Mind-Body healing who wish to explore ancient (and new) methods of understanding not just the body but the world around us.

3 Reasons You May Not be Sleeping and How to Address Them

5/7/2018

If you say “I’m tired” all the time, you may be among the many people that sleep less than what their body truly needs!  Although sleep deprivation is common, not sleeping can lower your quality of life. Insomnia has been shown to increase poorer performance in the work placeand/ or at school, our overall reaction times are slowed down also with an increased risk of many long-term conditions, including obesity.

While fitting in a couple more hours of sleep may seem challenging, it’s usually worth working fewer hours so that you can sleep the amount that you need. If you’re making the time for rest but still not sleeping, you may want to address some common reasons that people don’t sleep well.

1. You’re Stressed Out

Racing thoughts often keep people awake into the wee hours of the night. A study completed on medical students showed that those with lower GPAs (grade-point-average) were four times more likely to have poor sleep quality. Students who were less stressed (doing better in school) were likely to have better sleep quality This finding (and common sense) suggests that reducing your stress can probably improve your sleep.

Acupuncture, yoga, and meditation can help make you feel less stressed out. A study of elderly patients treated with acupuncture showed that the treatment made them feel less stressed, depressed and anxious. Nurses who did yoga more than twice per week reported less work stress and better sleep quality. Meditation can also help by teaching you to let go of the thoughts that keep you up at night.

We certainly recommend having a few acupuncture treatments (a total rebalance of your body and mind brings many other benefits to your life too), a couple of yoga sessions ( whether at a local class, a DVD or alternatively, why not switch on to some great free classes on Youtube - if timing is an issue with classes), plus daily meditation to relax, unwind (even just a few minutes a day can have a significant impact) and find your inner balance. If one doesn’t work alone, you can do multiple activities together to reduce your stress.
Picture

2. Your Sleep Habits Aren’t Healthy

An uncomfortable sleep environment may be the source of your sleeplessness. Few people realise that aside from lifestyle factors, the way that they sleep impacts what mattress they should be using. Side sleepers, may want a softer bed than people who sleep on their backs or sides. Different preferences in firmness may be related to spinal alignment. Back and stomach sleepers need a firmer mattress for alignment than side sleepers, who need that extra bit of comfort

Other unhealthy sleep habits include:
  • Irregular bedtimes
  • Working in bed
  • Using electronic devices in bed
  • Eating within 2-hours prior to bed

3. Your Internal Clock is Off

Picture
Inconsistent bedtimes and working late on a regular basis can interfere with your biological clock.

While this clock maintains many processes, it also regulates when you feel sleepy and awake. If you don’t feel sleepy at night, but you do feel sleepy all day, your clock may be off.

To reset your clock, try natural light!

Getting out and about - into the ☀️or even daylight will remind your body that it’s time to be awake - reset your clock! Try using dimmer lights and most importantly avoid blue light from your laptop and phone at night.

Try setting a pattern, a regular bedtime can  help you feel sleepy and awake at the right times. Your body starts to get accustomed to the timing. You’ll start feeling sleepy at the same time every night. Of course, this tactic works better if you get at least seven hours of sleep per night. Otherwise, you may still be tired in the morning.

5 Main clinical patterns for TCM Practitioners / Acupuncturist's

As practitioners we understand how truly effective acupuncture is in assisting the growing number of sleep disorders we encounter almost daily in clinics. We have witnessed the effect of our powerful go-to points of Ear shenmen, shen men (HT7), ZuSanli (ST36), Nei Guan (PC6), Yin Tang and of course An Mian.

In addition to these points, based on I-Ching Ba Gua theory we can now identify the 5 Core patterns
for all sleep issues inc. insomnia. We have created a chart to make this easier to refer to and identify in clinics, based on this theory and application for treatment of sleep disorders - If you would like too receive a downloadable version simply say YES in comments below or fill in your email address at link: [email protected] and we'll get it delivered into your Inbox PRONTO!!

We must never underestimate the importance and power of a good nights sleep, our lives, emotional harmony and inner peace depend on it!!

" O bed! O bed! delicious bed!
That heaven upon earth to the weary head."

So long - Its time for my senses to be cut-off & to retreat into darkness...

Picture
Vanishing from the world into isolation!

Having completed the intensive 21-Day authentic Ayurveda Panchakarma treatment, I have now decided to embark onto a new and deeper journey into an ancient Himalayan method to restore inner vitality and awareness into the nature of who we truly are.

Whilst many may think one would be crazy to carry out such a method, this opportunity presented at my feet unexpectedly and quite coincidentally – if you believe in such things, or perhaps perfect alignment!

Undergoing such a process requires you to retreat into a specially built 3-walled room, closing your senses you will be completely cut off from the world in darkness with nothing but mantras, meditation, yoga and ME!

There is much debate about the concept of Sensory Inhibition and its impact on the human body. Sensory inhibition is in fact practiced in multiple forms across the world. However, this topic has not seen the light of the day more so because of the hardships one goes through to practice it. But the benefits of this body purification system is reported to be incredibly drastic, long lasting and unbelievably worthy of the effort. They say the fruits are borne by those who put rigorous and whole hearted effort and this is precisely what sensory inhibition does to one’s body.

Ayurveda scripts also talk about a similar treatment form, more rightly called the Rejuvenation and Revitalization Therapy. It includes a rigorous procedure but what is surprising is the outcome that has been experienced by several maharishis(Saints and sages) of the time. There have been texts stating that the saints who practiced this treatment called Kuti Praveshika Rasayana, they reversed the process of ageing, extending life spans for up to 180 years with complete functionality and flexibility. Moreover, the process healed existing ailments and rejuvenated the body from its very core.

Kuti Praveshika Rasayana
is isolation from the outside world entirely along with giving all sensory points in the body complete rest. All senses such as sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch are given a break from the daily activities. The absolute minimum procedure time is 1 week and can go on for months. A cleansing process is followed by the isolation procedure. During the isolation all aspects required to inhibit the senses are incorporated.

During the stay within a hut specially designed for this, a diet of milk and ghee [clarified butter made from the milk of a buffalo or cow, used in Indian cooking] and no solid food. It is said the results are mostly evident on the day of leaving the kuti (hut) itself. A blanket seems to have been lifted off, dead skin and years of damage is cleared off and overall the body weight is reduced and looks right for the age (longer stays) - At this time I am unable to commit to the 20-30+ days, and will spend just over a week – beginning over the next few hours.

Ageing is an ongoing process that takes places in the human body. It cannot be stopped or reversed. Rasayana Chikitsa (regeneration therapy) promotes rejuvenation, healing, and regeneration of living tissue in the body and for this Kuti Pravesika Rasayana of Ayurveda is relevant.

This unique class of therapy enhances the life span, improves the intelligence and memory power, promotes health, provides youthful states of the body, betters the body luster and voice, improves the efficiency of the different cognitive abilities and enhances the innate health. It also reverses the disease process and prevents the re-occurrence.

Rasayana replenish the vital fluids of our body, thus keeping us away from diseases.

So far on this visit; I have completed the Snehapana and Vamana. In snehapana, various quantities of medicated ghee is given until you attain samyaksnigdha (ghee saturation). The body has to be completely rested through these stages.

Treatments I have already completed:
  • Vamana, or medical vomiting to eliminate the toxic elements.
  • Virechana or purgation which includes procedures to induce bowel movement using laxatives.
  • Nasyam, nose is the gateway to head as per Ayurveda, a process of hot oil and medicine is taken up through the nasal passages to clear the passage.
  • Vasti, which is medicine intake through the anal passage to clear the reproductive genitourinary and digestive system off the toxins.
  • Raktamoksham or blood letting was also performed in my case, with venous punctures on the surface of the skin to help release all the toxic or impure blood from the body.

Picture
Before getting inside my ‘new home’ or the kuti, a pathyam (regimen) needs to be followed; this lifestyle includes vegetarian food, routine, hot water consumption and no sleeping during the day or exercising. It’s crucial to fall into this pattern at least gradually to make sure that at the Kuti, one is not overcome by the complete rest in the kuti. A lot of mental preparation goes behind undertaking the procedure.

Only then can you enter the building in the shape of a hut where in the innermost sanctum of a 3 layered structure is devoid of light or sound. The temperatures are automatically maintained owing to the unique style of construction.

The only form of human contact will be when meals are served twice a day, hence causing inhibition of touch. My incredible Doctor also visits once a day to administer medication and check in on me, prior to entering I have been declared mentally and physically fit.

Inhibition of taste is done by the food regimen followed on all days of the kuti stay. A portion of Amalaki rasayana and milk from the Vechur cow (a native breed believed to produce medicinal milk owing to its consumption of herbs only) are the only things that form the meal, twice a day. There are various options of Rasayana that is suitable and can be implemented varying from person to person.

Over time, one’s body gets adjusted to the body clock and a routine is developed. Most people in the ancient time resorted to chanting, meditation, and yoga during the day to keep them engaged.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
The benefits are in fact plenty and naturally vary from person to person. The differences in fact are also dependent on the number of days spent at the kuti. Visible changes include:

  • Reduction in metabolic age.
  • Curing of skin problems
  • Less stress
  • Routine in life
  • Healthier diet, better digestion and high immunity
  • Reduction in fatigue and ability to add more productive hours to a normal day
  • Better concentration and attention span.
  • Better and sharper memory.
  • All internal functions are corrected
  • Thicker and more luscious hair growth
  • Loss of additional body fat. Body is brought to the correct weight for age and height.
  • Better seminal quality and improved count(for men)
  • Mental changes. The experience makes one realize the value of a lot of things they take for granted hence leading to better spiritual and mental understanding.

To get deep into the cell, to penetrate into the very core of your physical being?

From the land frequently referred to as God’s country, my return to Kerala has taken me on a journey deeper into the world of Ayurveda, a powerful 5000 year old medicine where I'm in the midst of undergoing a 21-day treatment; to reach every cell within my body for cleansing and purification.

The first part of this huge-process Pradhanakarma begins with an intensive, internal cleansing; herbal baths, massage (the bruising type!), in addition to practices of 1-day Vermana or Induced vomiting, 1 day of Virechana or induced purgation (diarrhoea) followed by 6-7 days of Basti or colonic cleanses (enemas!).

Wow!! What a start to a full on internal scrub-a-thon!!

Note: these processes are not as bad as we experience at times in our lives, with each comes a feeling of renewal.

Reaching day 10 of this cleanse and rejuvenation process; qualified as the day I could proceed to the next stage; the intensive; GHEE TREATMENT

 - the day had finally arrived!

Having worked with many of these methods before in India, the Ghee process was something I have wanted to experience in full for some time.

Viewed locally as a spiritual ritual and important process in Ayurveda medicine; whilst the first part of this program is focused on cleaning out the body - TO REALLY GET DEEP, to penetrate into the very core of your being, crossing the blood brain barrier into every single cell (including the brain), and to expel the deep-rooted adipose toxins that hide deep within our bodies often for a lifetime...

                   - Ghee is called to the front line; line up - set and forward march...

Toxins that could have lodged from any stage within our lives; from the air we breathe, the food we eat, from chemical exposure, but perhaps most importantly from the vast emotions felt by us;

- the loves, the heartfelt losses, the hurts, the pains, the traumas experienced - whom each set up home uninvited, within a cell - feet up, lay-back, settled-in.... only moving in those call-to-action moments, a signal for a behaviour to appear, triggering a reactive response to external stimuli or to add fuel to fire to yet another emotion or situation visited!

So deeper we went...

Day 1 of the second part of this process begins with a small measure of Ghee (clarified butter) taken in 1 shot, each day that follows the measure increases x 2. Whilst not the most pleasant of tastes, it’s actually easier than you think – after all it is only liquid butter... easy right!?

Energy levels plummet as the ghee works overtime to infiltrate the cells, appetite wanes, and you find yourself going inward. It is a time of inner reflection, to step back from any form of socialising, esp digital devices and to just 'be'...

... Slowly, slowly, moments of clarity blossom into your vision like fairy dust, old feelings arise and fall like the winter sun, images and glimpses of moments gone by, many best forgotten... the sleep comes early each evening, greeting you with 8-hours of deep, unbroken blissful sleep.

This stage of the treatment lasts anywhere from 3-7 days, until complete saturation of Ghee is obtained by your body (2 of 4 symptoms to present). The tiredness mounts and time passes in a haze, as slowly it slithers its way through your system to arrive at the doorway of each and every pore on your bodies surface.... slowly, slowly...

By day 4 approx 2.5hrs after drinking 250ml of Ghee in 1 shot, my body could take no more and rejected the ghee (vomiting ensued).

Symptoms suddenly appeared in multitude; edginess, fidgety, anxiety, shaking, cold sweats, erratic thoughts and pure unadulterated exhaustion.  Feelings and emotions poured forth, old and familiar yes, but those that hold no place in my life today.

It’s like being a bystander to a Broadway-show of dramatic illusions of your life so far.... whilst the emotions are there - the association of feelings are not; they are old emotions, and are not welcome - IT IS TIME TO LEAVE!

One thing was for sure - Ghee saturation had been achieved, what a relief I promise you!!

Above symptoms were a very firm indicator the Ghee had penetrated the final barrier – the brain! This caused the expulsion of these adipose toxins lodged deep within all cells, who are now flowing freely around my ENTIRE BODY – manifesting with edgy behaviours, and the emotional and physical symptoms presenting.
Within a short time I was placed into the steam box, now that my entire body was saturated in Ghee

– OF COURSE NOW THE TOXINS ARE ROAMING FREE it was time to get these dislodged bad-boy toxins OUT!

And so begins the next process of cleansing and strengthening; in which I have opted for a special process of blood-letting which many of you will know as a medieval practice, to be carried out by  my very own Dr Dracula!

Not at all, my dear friend and dr, Dr Srejit will perform the letting later today. I am intrigued and excited to try this new treatment method, as practitioners in TCM we are very familiar with the bloodletting we carry out in our clinical practice, but this is VERY different method indeed!
Picture
Picture

Ok, but is it really necessary to go through such a hardcore program?

Picture
For me ABSOLUTELY, I came having contracted Dengue fever in October this year in Vietnam, and I could still feel it lodged within. I also have been living in high pollution in this particular area of the world.

Aside from this my life includes a regular practice of gym, yoga, Tai Chi/Qi Gong, meditation and sauna/steam detoxes, PLUS balanced nutritional intake – YET we all encounter toxins that slip in through our environment,  chemicals in our diet, through cosmetics, endless plastic, but the greatest toxins of all come from our emotions and the stresses experienced in our daily lives, both past and present - especially repressed ones from our younger days.

Traumatic periods we each experience create cellular memories; these get lodged deep within our fat cells, and have little intention to ever leave. Whilst there are many methods to Detox and remove and disperse toxins from your body, for me personally as a practitioner in the field of Traditional Oriental Medicine, and a Naturopath; Nothing comes close to that of Ayurveda medicine in this realm.

Its intense, working at a cellular level, and it crosses the blood brain barrier (our inbuilt personal security guard system on duty 24/7, EVERY SINGLE DAY of our lives - only a few things get past this, but that's a whole other blog topic!).

Who does this?

Many travel from far, especially Europeans at this time; people are flocking for the wonders of this  therapy, to undergo a real cleanse, experience true clarity of Body, Mind and Spirit.... to feel years younger, banish chronic sickness and diseases and realign themselves.

Interestingly this time, we have 4 Allopathic European Drs staying here (not travelling together), who simply discovered the value of this medicine many years ago - understanding there is an important place for all medicines in today's world.

It is one of the most truly empowering, cleansing and rejuvenation processes on earth... and the results I see each time with so many patients, amazes and inspires me!

– TO PUT IT SIMPLY it is like pressing the RESET BUTTON!

An intensive and challenging experience; this 4th trip to India has taken me deeper into this fascinating medicine, to witness once again the deep healing offered by the world’s oldest medicine, and studying under one of Kerala’s finest Dr’s and friend in nature's paradise.

Tonight is the above mentioned Bloodletting. An opportunity to let the blood flow freely from my veins, to remove unnecessary components whilst examining the dispersed blood colours and of course the patient – ME (which I am so very happy to be at this time)!

Dien Chan... Facial Reflexology in just 5-10 minutes?

2/5/2017

Cybertherapy or Facial Reflexology – Does it really work?

In one word – Absolutely ( and fast!)
A fascinating new treatment therapy developed by the now famous Dr Bui Quoc Chau from Southern Vietnam, outside Ho Chi Minh city, Facial Reflexology, locally known as Dien Chan is an incredible new treatment method discovered in the early 1980’ by accident - when treating the epidemic of Opium addicted people, from the aftermath of the Vietnam War or American War (as known locally).

According to lengthy clinical experience, the past, the present and the future weaknesses are all written in our faces. Those of you who are trained in the special art of Face reading in TCM diagnostics, particularly with the well-renowned Lillian Bridges and the inspiring Deirdre Courtney, will understand the importance of this diagnostic tool.

EVERY FACE  SHOWS ILLNESSES that you have suffered in your past, in fact even the mental state can be reflected in your face – this is invaluable in our diagnostic procedure. As many of us know many disorders have their origin in the internal imbalance of the viscera.

Originating from Vietnam, Dien Chan is fast becoming a home treatment practiced by many local people to banish pain and sickness very quickly.

"First discovered by accident following the Opium addiction epidemic left after the Vietnam War."
I first discovered this method by the now infamous Dien Chan Dr of the North, Dr Thao – who also studied under its founder Dr Bui  Quoc Chau.

Dr Thao is a doctor of both allopathic and Eastern medicine, but in his busy clinic located just outside Hanoi city he now practices solely using Dien Chan and sees between 50-60 patients a day!
Perhaps Dien Chan can help you achieve the high clinical turnover whilst gaining amazing clinical results, whilst also acquiring more free time each day?

IMAGINE seeing 50-60 patients a day – yet finished by lunchtime?

Only 5-10 minutes per treatment you ask?

YES, each treatment with Dien Chan lasts approximately       5-10 minutes – a MAXIMUM of 15!

Yes you heard that right, the same as the average length of time you get with your local Dr or GP in the West, but with Dien Chan you get drug-free and hence no side-effects...
Picture
Entire body represented on the face.

In just 1-treatment - but do the effects last?

YES, sometimes just 1 treatment is necessary - HOWEVER it usually requires more than one treatment and the treatments close together, for the best and quickest long-term results. If we are dealing with pain, we aim for an 80% reduction in the 1st treatment; this may mean using our tools upon different areas of the body using a selection of different tools, with a yin or a yang effect.

Several areas may be treated within the short timeframe. Ideally we do not aim for a 100% symptom relief, as this can trigger a healing crisis or a reverse effect -  resulting in an exasperation of symptom occurrence.

We treat until there is full symptom clearance, and for a short time after to ensure longterm results.
With Dien Chan we can also give the power of health back to the patient.

- By simply by showing our patients how to use this therapy effectively (if recurrence of symptoms occur) both on themselves and on their loved ones in the comfort of their own home!

This method is being practiced by more than 500,000 people in Vietnam today - At almost zero cost within the poorer communities.

Is this related to acupuncture and channel theory?

NO, Dien Chan actually works using the microcosm principle, where the pain or diseased part of the body is treated using an image of the area placed upon another location in the body.

How does it work?

The fundamental principle is to rebalance the body’s energy or Qi – to naturally provoke our body’s own self-regulation or self-healing.

We focus on Reflex points acting like a transmitter, receiving data of imbalances for the corresponding organ area. We simply seek the point(s) that can help regulate the specific area through quick and painless treatments.

All points we use in Dien Chan are connected to the area of the brain that corresponds to the organ or body area that is unwell, inflamed, or painful – NOTE: the points are not actually connected directly to the areas themselves.

Practitioners of Dien Chan simply stimulate this area, creating or activating a process called:

- AUTO-REGULATION of the corresponding organ in that area. Hence why a zone can be sensitive, even when a limb has been amputated, etc, therefore Dien Chan is a very effective treatment in phantom limb pain.

It is about selecting the perfect zone, the correct area along with the technique (there are 7 in total) and of course using the correct tool(s) – this is very important, as the material the tool is made of has a huge impact on the pathology you are treating.
Picture

What does it treat?

It treats many, many problems – but it is particularly effective in:

  1. Nervous system disorders.
  2. Circulatory system issues,
  3. Endocrine diseases.
  4. Joint / muscular problems,
  5. Infections
  6. Inflammation.

It does not treat the most serious of diseases, including terminal cases.

Where can I learn more about this Facial Therapy?

So long Monkey.... enter the FIRE ROOSTER!

Legend says, when the Lord Buddha summoned all the animals to bid him farewell before he departed this lifetime – ONLY 12 animals showed up.

It was then he decided to name a year after each of the 12 animals based on the order they arrived for his farewell. It is an ancient belief that each of these animals has a profound effect on your life based on the year you were born.

Some Tips to start the LUNAR NEW YEAR with luck

DO NOT wash or cut your hair on the 1st day of the New year (28th January 2017). Viewed as washing or cutting your fortune away, and will greatly reduce your chances of prosperity in 2017.

DO NOT buy books for the 1st 15-days after the Lunar new year, this brings bad luck.

DO NOT eat porridge at the start of the Lunar year. For it is seen as a food of the poor, this will bring a poor outlook for the year ahead.

The ancient secrets of the  Yi-Jing and Feng Shui for diagnosis

3/12/2016

The ancient secrets of the
Yi-Jing and Feng Shui for diagnosis
by a Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Having just returned to Northern Vietnam, from perhaps one of the rawest travelling experiences yet encountered – and trust me I’ve had the opportunity to explore some pretty far out places over the past 20-years – yet through the rawness, the coldness-to-the bone, the primitive setting; this was to become a truly inspirational, and intensive training high up in the White Horse mountain of the Wudang mountain range in Hubei province in Central China.

Amongst the clouds, in the icy-cold, mystical mountains where the harshness and beauty of nature were felt equally at every level; I would stay within a Taoist Temple, whilst undergoing the teachings and guidance of the Taoist recluse Li Shifu, who renounced the world of the ‘red dust’ many years ago.

This was truly a rare opportunity to delve deep into the world of the oldest book and calculus systems on earth today; to the very foundations of our entire binary system and fundamental to the core of humanity, it is in fact used in the creation of today’s computers. We were about to embark on a journey of discovery into the ancient Yi Jing, Ba-Gua theory, trigrams, and hexagrams, into one of the oldest systems and scriptures recorded in human history today (believed to date back to 1120 to 770 BC).

Dismissed by many as a voodoo age-old fortune telling-method only delivered by old wise characters from the East, this is a system that has clearly been misunderstood and whose depth goes beyond what many of us students can learn or comprehend in 1-lifetime.

The Yi-Jing opens the door to understanding your path through choices, where your strengths lie, where challenges will present that may otherwise be avoided (rather than taking the longer path of greater suffering), to understanding the dynamics of all that surrounds you - but perhaps the most important aspect of the use of the Yi-Jing, particularly to myself as a practitioner within the Traditional Medicine field, is its capability to diagnosis and understand the physical and mental dynamics and disharmonies of the individual today.

Further along this study path we were also introduced to ancient theories and concepts applied through the use of Feng Shui to implement into our daily lives. This was not the ‘where to put that plant’, or ‘which way should my bed face?  Instead it opened a door to further explore the depths of the individual, a tool to analyse their entire systemic internal and external settings of their surroundings and being. To understand the balance of the fundamental elements of nature as human beings and our place within this universal plain; to focus on the balancing of all of natures elements;

Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood

-
in order to gain inner peace and find balance along each of our paths.

To be honest; as the teachings began - I sat there in disbelief that such a system could define a pathological imbalance of a patient without any symptom or consultation analysis.

The analysis was complex; in fact, in our short time Li Shifu repeatedly explained how we would barely touch these ancient topics, to delve deeper will take many, many years and experience through application of these methods. He shared a number of case studies both personal and passed down from the Great Masters before him - the results speak for themselves.

As ‘out there’ as these methods may seem, when laid down by a Great Master who sees himself only as a ‘common man’, who seeks no recognition or reward for his work; your mind and heart are opened into an ancient knowledge for you to take what is necessary on your path at this time, and to use it only as intended by the Master himself. These methods both simplify, yet at the same time create a complexity to nature that I didn’t believe was possible - not even for one-breath!

I feel truly privileged to have shared this ancient knowledge and to have been part of his last teachings on this subject; sadly, he has decided not to continue with these important teachings as he is concerned this knowledge has not been used with the correct intention in these modern times, but he is also clear that 2017 is a troublesome time for our planet.

Brimming with excitement to implement this into my practice and teachings both here in Asia and in Europe, I realise the doorway has only opened, barely ajar... yet such magnificent discoveries, insights and trainings lie amass beyond, alas more than is possible for this lifetime.

THE PATH IS OURS TO WALK, at this special time. The Yi-Jing is about Unification, for us to walk it together, because the development of the course of the world and our universe are now moving too quickly. It is said that the Universe will move quickly out of this time dimension, as our lives are but a few seconds.

Shifu firmly believing the fastest time and speed we have ever known on earth is within these now few hundred years following World War III, I too, have personally felt for some time how privileged we are to be alive in one of the most important times in mankind's history.

Will I return to the mountain, to further study under the Great Master?
Most definitely, so to delve deeper into Taoist Medicine and its philosophy, to further examine how our universal laws impact every second of life, which in Taoism is the spiritual foundation of this incredible medicine and way of life. It is also an opportunity to further explore the world of Martial Arts and inner stillness.

To the wonderful people I met on the mountain, it was empowering to live, laugh and practice alongside such unique energies; there were those who come from the same field as myself, working within Eastern medicine, but there was also Western allopathic doctors amongst us - who by combining both medicines alongside other therapeutic music healing (legalised in China only this year), they are already implementing these into their practices and hospitals at home in mainland Europe... the future of medicine, we hope!

Any finally, THANK YOU to Li Shifu... I promise to use this ancient knowledge and skills only in the ways both you and nature intended.

Warmest.

Tara
